In Europe\u2019s industrial narrative, Made in Italy<\/em> is often treated as an attribute. An origin. A label.<\/p>\n In the project we developed with a client in Saudi Arabia, Made in Italy took on a completely different meaning: Today the client produces with us a premium line made entirely in Italy<\/strong>: fragrance, components, filling and packing. But that result wasn\u2019t where the project started. It was where it naturally arrived.<\/p>\n For this client, Made in Italy does not represent a narrative advantage. It represents real prestige<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In a highly competitive market such as the Middle East, a premium line produced entirely in Italy is synonymous with:<\/p>\n high positioning<\/p>\n<\/li>\n authority<\/p>\n<\/li>\n immediate credibility<\/p>\n<\/li>\n higher margins<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The client was very clear on one point: the perceived value of the product had to be consistent with the price<\/strong>, and the price had to sustain a solid margin over time.<\/p>\n In this balance, where a product is made isn\u2019t a detail. It\u2019s a structural variable.<\/p>\n At first, the project followed a very common model: components bought in China, fragrance produced in Italy, filling and packing handled locally.<\/p>\n A seemingly efficient model, often justified by:<\/p>\n lower unit costs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n wide availability of components<\/p>\n<\/li>\n volume flexibility<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n But over time, very concrete limits emerged.<\/p>\n The problem wasn\u2019t just quality, which already fell short of a fully premium positioning. The problem was control<\/strong>.<\/p>\n With Asian components, the client regularly had to deal with:<\/p>\n gaps between quantities ordered and quantities actually delivered<\/p>\n<\/li>\n missing or damaged components<\/p>\n<\/li>\n unpredictable sourcing lead times<\/p>\n<\/li>\n difficulties managing shipments<\/p>\n<\/li>\n knock-on production delays<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Every component shortage caused:<\/p>\n line stoppages<\/p>\n<\/li>\n rework<\/p>\n<\/li>\n operational stress<\/p>\n<\/li>\n eroded margins<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n In a premium project, these frictions are not sustainable.<\/p>\n The decision to switch to a full-service model, entirely Made in Italy<\/strong> wasn\u2019t ideological. It was rational<\/strong>.<\/p>\n We redesigned the whole system:<\/p>\n fragrance developed and produced in Italy<\/p>\n<\/li>\n primary and secondary components supplied by Italian partners<\/p>\n<\/li>\n filling and packing managed in a single flow<\/p>\n<\/li>\n direct control over quality, quantities and timing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n This change transformed the project in several ways.<\/p>\n One of the most common misconceptions is that Made in Italy serves only to \u201craise quality.\u201d Actually, in the case of this project, the real value was something else: the reliability of the system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n With Italian suppliers:<\/p>\n delivered quantities match the orders<\/p>\n<\/li>\n lead times are shorter and more predictable<\/p>\n<\/li>\n communication is direct<\/p>\n<\/li>\n quality control is immediate<\/p>\n<\/li>\n problems are solved before they become critical<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The result was not just a better product. It was a process more stable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n And in a premium brand, stability multiplies value.<\/p>\n Contrary to a widespread clich\u00e9, the transition to Full Made in Italy did not reduce margins<\/strong>. Because:<\/p>\n fewer errors mean fewer hidden costs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n fewer delays mean less capital tied up<\/p>\n<\/li>\n less rework means more real efficiency<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The visible unit cost may be higher. But the total cost of the system is lower. And sustainable margins are built on total cost.<\/p>\n This project proves an often overlooked truth: Made in Italy isn\u2019t a romantic choice. It\u2019s a strategic choice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n When it is built into a full-service model, it:<\/p>\n strengthens the positioning<\/p>\n<\/li>\n increases brand credibility<\/p>\n<\/li>\n improves operational control<\/p>\n<\/li>\n protects margins<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n It\u2019s not a label to stick on. It\u2019s a system to manage.<\/p>\n The project we developed with the Saudi client isn\u2019t interesting because it\u2019s \u201call Made in Italy\u201d. As a positioning lever.
